You Can Give Hope to Children Like Emma

Through quality investigative and supportive services, like forensic interviews, medical evaluations, evidence-supported counseling and advocacy, hope can be restored for victims of child abuse.

Your gift today can give hope to children like Emma by providing crucial forensic services, counseling and long-term advocacy throughout the Pee Dee.

A Story of Hope

Let us introduce you to 12-year old Emma. Emma was referred to the CARE House by the Florence County Sheriff's Office following allegations of sexual abuse by her stepparent. Since she was 6 years old, Emma endured ongoing sexual abuse in her home - by a caregiver who was responsible for protecting her, keeping her safe and helping her grow. For half of Emma's life, hope was hard to find.

From the moment Emma walked through the doors of the CARE House, that all changed. She was met by supportive and experienced staff, who facilitated fact-finding forensic interviews with her and her brother, connected her with counseling and other supportive services and helped Emma and her family understand what to expect throughout the process. Highly trained counselors collaborated with a team of local agencies (including law enforcement and child protective services) to investigate the allegations and support Emma - all within a safe and nurturing environment. For Emma - hope was restored.

Now as Emma and her family prepare for their upcoming trial, they are supported by a Child & Family Advocate, familiar with the lengthy legal process, who will walk with them every step of the way.

As a Children's Advocacy Center, the CARE House of the Pee Dee's mission is to promote help, hope and healing to child abuse victims - like Emma - and their families in a nurturing environment through supportive services and prevention.

You can give hope to children like Emma through a gift to the CARE House.
